Incident Tracker is a public safety tool used by authorized personnel of the Shrewsbury Police Department during active incidents and events. This policy describes what data is collected, how it is used, and how it is protected.
This application is not intended for general public use. Access is restricted to authorized law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel.
When you use the Incident Tracker app, the following information may be collected:
All data collected is used exclusively for incident management and officer accountability during active public safety operations. Specifically:
Your data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising purposes.
Data is stored in Google Firebase Realtime Database, hosted in the United States. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access to incident data requires authentication — all reads and writes require a valid authentication token.
GPS location data and push notification tokens are actively removed from our servers when you check out of an incident, voluntarily or otherwise.
Incident records, including location history and messages, are retained for administrative and after-action review purposes. Closed incident data is accessible only to authorized administrators. Retention periods are managed by the Shrewsbury Police Department.
The app requests foreground and background location permissions. Location is only actively tracked and transmitted to our servers while you are checked in to an active incident. Background location is used to maintain GPS tracking if you switch away from the app during an incident. Location tracking is fully stopped when you check out.
You may deny location permissions, but the app's core functionality — officer tracking — will not work without them.
The app requests permission to send push notifications. These are used solely to deliver operational messages and alerts from the Incident Commander during active incidents. Your push notification token is deleted from our servers upon checkout and is never used for marketing or non-operational purposes.
As this application is operated by the Shrewsbury Police Department for internal use, data access and deletion requests should be directed to your department administrator. Officers may request a copy of their incident data or request deletion by contacting the administrator.
This application is intended for use by adult law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 years of age.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the application constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
